Ellyse Alexandra Perry, a seasoned all-rounder from Wahroonga, Sydney, New South Wales, marked her entry into international cricket with her ODI debut on July 22, 2007, against New Zealand at Gardens Oval in Darwin.
Throughout her illustrious career, she has garnered numerous accolades and reached various significant milestones. Recently, she achieved yet another landmark during the second match of the ongoing three-match ODI series against India at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
Perry reached the milestone of 1,000 runs in ODIs on July 21, 2015, during the first ODI at County Ground, Taunton, where she achieved a stunning half-century, scoring 78 runs off 96 deliveries against England. She surpassed the 2,000-run mark on July 2, 2017, during the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2017 in New Zealand, by scoring 71 runs off 91 balls against the host side in the tournament’s tenth match, an effort that earned her the Player of the Match award.
On February 24, 2019, she hit her first century in the format during the second ODI against New Zealand, finishing with an unbeaten score of 107 runs off 110 balls at Karen Rolton Oval, Adelaide. Her remarkable performance also secured her the Player of the Match prize. Perry later achieved the milestone of 3,000 runs on October 5, 2019, during the first ODI of a bilateral series against Sri Lanka at Allan Border Field, Brisbane, contributing 19 runs off 23 balls in that match.
In the ongoing ODI series against India, she reached the 4,000-run milestone in her third ODI century, scoring 105 runs off 75 balls. She completed this achievement in the 31st over bowled by Saima Thakor, capitalizing on a wide delivery with a powerful shot through backward point that raced to the boundary.
Australia concluded their innings with an impressive total of 371/8 from their 50 overs, bolstered by centuries from both Perry (105 off 75 balls) and Georgia Voll (101 off 87 balls).
