Ellyse Perry’s remarkable presence in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) has been truly legendary. As a key player for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Perry has consistently made her mark in the competition’s history.
With an impressive total of 745 runs across 20 matches, she stands as RCB’s leading run-scorer, boasting an exceptional average of 57.30, the highest among her teammates. Her capacity to stabilize innings while increasing the scoring pace makes her an invaluable player.
Perry’s excellence doesn’t stop at batting. She holds the record for the best bowling figures in WPL history, with an outstanding 6/15 performance against the Mumbai Indians in the 2024 season. Alongside Asha Sobhana, who recorded 5/22, Perry shares the honor of joint-most five-wicket hauls in RCB’s WPL history.
Her batting achievements are equally impressive. Perry has achieved six half-centuries, making her the player with the most fifties for RCB. Her explosive innings of 81 off 43 balls against the Mumbai Indians ranks just behind Sophie Devine’s celebrated 99 off 36 deliveries against the Gujarat Giants in the 2023 edition — a knock still revered as the highest individual score in WPL history.
Perry’s power-hitting capability is reflected in her total of 18 sixes, placing her third among RCB’s power hitters, trailing Richa Ghosh’s 23 and Sophie Devine’s 20 maximums. Additionally, she is a dependable fielder, securing four catches, just shy of the joint record of 11 held by Richa Ghosh and Smriti Mandhana.
In the bowling arena, Perry has also excelled, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 7.70, which ranks fourth within the team. With 11 wickets to her credit, she stands fifth among RCB’s leading wicket-takers, sharing the limelight with other notable bowlers like Asha Sobhana, Shreyanka Patil, Georgia Wareham, and Sophie Molineux.
The 2024 season was particularly memorable for Perry and RCB as they secured their first WPL title, defeating Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in a commanding final. Perry was indispensable — finishing as the tournament’s top run-scorer with 347 runs at an exceptional average of 69.40 across just nine innings, with a solid strike rate of 125.72. Furthermore, she contributed with seven wickets, achieving a commendable bowling average of 15.77.
Even as she approached the current season dealing with a hip injury sustained during the Ashes in January, which has limited her bowling roles, Perry’s batting form continues to shine brightly.
She began the season strongly with a fluent 57 off 34 balls against the Gujarat Giants, followed by an unbeaten 7 off 13 against the Delhi Capitals, and a powerful 81 off 43 against the Mumbai Indians. With 145 runs so far, Perry boasts a phenomenal average of 72.50 with an impressive strike rate of 161.11.
Beyond her statistics, Ellyse Perry represents resilience, class, and leadership — attributes that have made her a pillar of RCB’s WPL narrative and a true icon in the sport.
