The lists of female cricket players receiving contracts for the upcoming 2024/25 season have been announced by the six primary domestic cricket associations in New Zealand. Nine promising new talents are being introduced through this initial contract round, with each association selecting up to 12 players. A subsequent window will be utilized to complete the full 13-player roster.
Emerging Players in the Local Cricket Circuits
Within Auckland Cricket, three new talents have been welcomed: the spinner Rishika Jaswal alongside batters Cate Pedersen and Anika Todd. Jaswal, who gained attention with her debut against Northern Districts in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield, managed to impress as she turned 17. She is already acknowledged as a standout player due to her remarkable performances, including seven appearances in the 50-over competition and an entry into the Super Smash. Jaswal’s outstanding performances at Takapuna Grammar School landed her the Player of the Year accolade after leading the Venus Cup wicket-taking charts.
Similarly, Anika Todd, a 17-year-old player, has showcased her talent by progressing through Auckland Cricket’s Talent Pathway system and representing Aotearoa Māori Women at the Pacific Cup. Cate Pedersen, originally from Rotorua and formerly part of the Central Hinds team, has joined Auckland based on her impressive performance in the 2023-24 season.
Marina Lamplough, transitioning from Otago and Hong Kong, is a fresh addition to Northern Districts Cricket. Lamplough’s impactful displays, which include claiming 6 wickets at an average of 10.6 in the Dream11 Super Smash, significantly enhance the team.
Central Districts has acquired the services of pace bowler Anna Gaging, whose promise since her debut season earned her a contract following an exceptional display in the 2023-24 season, highlighted by a remarkable four-wicket haul.
